The hot, humid days of summer, typically around July 4th to August 31st are known as the “dog days of summer.” This is one of my favorite times of year, despite the humidity. We typically get some afternoon thunderstorms that cool things off just enough for a very pleasant evening most nights. That turns into cool mornings which are a joy when I’m out walking… our new dog.
Yep, we got a dog. I’d made a promise to my girls a long time ago and finally got to the point where I could make good on it. We rescued Griffin, a one year old English Shepherd through the National Mill Dog Rescue. He’s from a mill in Louisiana and while we were worried about anxiety and behaviorial issues, I’m happy to report he’s the sweetest, smartest dog. He’s super attached to me, which isn’t uncommon for the breed, and he loves playing outside. We walk about 3 miles a day on average which has helped me meet a goal I set for myself on weight loss and fitness, too.
What about you? What are you doing this summer? Feel free to reply and tell me about your adventures!
